Some of the X-students found her one night when she lost control of her powers, and accidentally attacked the owner of the local coffee shop. They followed her, and found her buying drugs with the money she stole from the shop (which she was using to help regulate her powers). They caught her, and took her to the X-Mansion. There, she was accepted, and became a student. Dr. Hank McCoy made her gauntlets to help her with her powers.

Before the one year jump, she left the institute to forger her life, along with her two best friends. After a year of a 'normal' life, they got involved with SHIELD.After a rough fight with Cheetah, Nori collapsed and hit her head on a park bench. As a result, she got amnesia.
