General Rules
1. You may only have ONE character at a time. I cannot state how annoying it is when someone tries to get away with two. You will always be caught, trust me on this one. So if you want to play this game, you better follow this rule because I will kick you out on the spot and not let you back in. To save me trouble, only one person is allowed to use the site. That means if you have a brother that wants to join, you two will have to make a decision on who's going to join...or if you want to share a character. Sorry, but it's how it goes.
2. You may only choose a comic book character to role play as, either from Marvel, DC, Image, or an Independent. They must be created by a comic publisher and be famous for being a comic book character. That means you cannot be a Star Wars character, even though they had a comic, because they are famous for their movies. You may, however, use whatever characters from whatever universe you want in your role plays. So if you were the Hulk, you could write Mega Man into your role play if you wanted to.
3. You may switch characters if you are tired of your current one, but you shouldn't do it often. You may only switch characters a maximum of 4 times in your Superhero Showdown career. So that brings your character total to 5 all together. If you run out of changes and still want to change characters, you can start your stats over as if you were joining the site again for the first time. Or you can purchase the Phone Booth item from the mall.
4. Try to control your swearing in roleplays. If your character doesn't use curse words, then don't use them. It is never ok to make gay or racists jokes on the Role Play or OOC boards.
5. You must role play twice a week to remain active. The more you role play though, the better! Stay active and creative and make a name for yourself on that boards. If you do not, you will not receive a battle and will eventually be kicked out for inactivity. If you have signed up for a battle against another character and have not RP'ed 2 times in the week, you will receive nothing, but the person who did RP twice will receive the 3 stat points and their money reward. Each role play must be at the very least 20 sentences. You will not receive a battle if they are too short or you only get one role play up in a week. However, if the one role play you get up during the week is very good, surpasses 40 sentences, and is well-thought out, you may get a battle still, but just try to have 2 20 sentence role plays up every week.
7. When you role play with someone else, you must have their permission to do anything that would alter their stories a great deal, such as demolishing their base of operations. You can attack their base and do as much property damage as you wish, but do not go overboard with it unless you have their permission. This means totally demolishing their base or killing off their NPC characters without their permission.
6. Please stay in character when role playing. That means no killing people if your character doesn't, and no swearing like a madman if your character doesn't.
7. No killing major characters in any type of role play, even if no one is playing them. An example being Lex Luthor. However, a character may reserve the right to do as he pleases with the NPCs normally associated with him. An example of this would be Mary Jane or Aunt May if you were Spiderman.
8. OOC board is for posting questions, suggestions, and comments only. You may also start up a discussion if you wish, but you cannot, however, be vulgar, offensive, or start any fights. I'm usually pretty lenient with the OOC Board and the discussions there, but please keep other people's feelings in mind. If you do anything to be offensive, you will be kicked off.
9. You may form special teams with other site members. The group may even appear during battles to help out...so watch out opponents! Teams have a maximum of 25 members.
10. You can also form alliances with others. Like a partnership, but not a team member. You basically just help them out and will be a resource.
11. Please do not instant message the moderators asking when things will be updated. If we are running behind, don't worry, everything will eventually be up. If you really need to talk to one, e-mail them.

12. Have anything that you think belongs on the SHSD History page? Well, if you do, send it to Hawkeyeshsd@yahoo.com and we will see if it is worthy enough to be put on the History Page.
Battle Rules
13. Getting a Battle - Either request for one on the OOC board or respond to a request for one on the OOC board, both are the easiest ways of finding one. You can also talk to someone through e-mail or instant messaging to find one, but please don't excessively bother someone through such methods, it's rude and annoying. It's up to you and whoever else is participating to decide how to handle the battle. You can go just write the setup on how the participants meet, you could start writing the battle and leave the outcome to the battle mod, or even go OOC (see below). The battles finalized when the card is posted on the OOC board by Noon central time on Friday. The battles are then written and rolled over the weekend to be posted on Sunday night.
14. The RP Week - This pretains to battles only, not the RP Award. The RP week runs from Saturday to Friday at 12:30 PM. This is to ensure that everyone has time to get their battles posted on the "Post Your Battles" Thread on the OOC Board (usually goes up Wednesdays) and has enough time to get the RP requirements up. There is no point in asking for extentions on the time because six and half days is more than enough time to get two twenty line posts up or one forty line one up (it's not hard people).
15. You may fight against any member of the site, if they agree to it, at any place. The battleground has no effect on the outcome of the fight, it just adds the flavor.
16. There are also several types of fights. You may have one on one battles, two on two battles, handicap battles, three way battles, and four way battles. Then there are the explosive team battles! A five on five free-for-all!
17. Relics - Depending on your power level (total of all your stats combined) you are eligible for one of these items. If you wish to go for the item you are eligible for you may challenge the holder of said item. The winner of the battle keeps the item. The battle itself is like any other battle, the rewards are the same, only you get to keep the item as well. Check out the Relics Link off the homepage for details on each item.
18. OOC - Out of Character/Out of Continuity. OOC fights are not allowed on the site. For the sake of keeping things interactive and interesting, any fight you get must be IC and against another player. If you attempt to make a fight OOC, then you will be given no fight rewards for that week, even if you win.
19. Death Matches; a death match challenge can be issued from one character to another, or from multiple characters to another. A death match does not have to be accepted. The winner of a death match gets 7 stat points and the loser gets 0 because he's dead and didn't learn anything. You do not have to stay dead if you lose a death match. We all know the only thing that stays dead in comics is Uncle Ben, and that may even one day change, so you can just role play a story out of your death and somehow come back to life. The Moderator must first approve death Matches before they are held.
Reward System:
Win: 3 stats and 30 dollars
Loss: 2 stats and 15 dollars
Death Match Win: 7 stats and 75 dollars
Death Match Loss: 0 stats and 0 dollars
Roleplaying 2 times a week: 15 bux
20. After you battle against other site members, you will receive points to add to your current stats, raising your power level. After you decide where you want to put your stat points, send them to ShowdownStats@yahoo.com. Make sure you include your character's name and what attribute categories you want your stats to be added to.
EXAMPLE:
Before the battle your stats are: 5,5,5,5
After winning a battle, you will add your new attribute points to your stats any way you want, like so: 6,5,6,6
21. When you start out, you must have at least one point in each stat category.
22. There are no limits to stats, you can build them up as high as up want.
23. Unlike stat points, which can only be earned through Battles and RP of the Week, Showdown Dollars are more common and can be earned in a variety of ways. They can be earned through battles, Role Play of the Week, the Beyonder Challenge, special events, awards from Moderator for any reason, and from being active every week, meaning having 2 20 sentence role plays up every week.
24. To make a purchase, simply send your request to ShowdownStats@yahoo.com along with your stat update e-mail. If you choose to save your money rather than spend it right away, make sure to say that in your Stat e-mail, saying how much you earned that week and how much you are saving. We will not be keeping track of how much you made, so it is your duty to remind us.
25. Battles are decided by roll of dice. I do not in any way have control of how it lands. I will use a 20 sided di to conduct battles and each fighter will have 10 numbers.
EXAMPLE: Daredevil has 1-10 and Firestorm has 11-20.
When it lands on one of your numbers, you do an attack. Then another roll will decide if you connect with it. You must first roll your attack and then see if it connects judging by the opponent's speed and dodge chance.
EXAMPLE: Spider-Man(1-10) uppercuts the Green Goblin(11-20) after rolling a 6. Green Goblin, who has a speed stat of 20, has a 10% dodge chance and dodges the attack after rolling a 1 or 2...which is 10% of the 20 sided die.
26. If the di lands on 10 or 20, then the person will do their Power move. Power moves are unique and very powerful and have varying effects depending on your character.
27. Fights are over when one character's hit points go down to or past 0.
28. Please be aware that I do not favor anyone, there's no way to control the way the di lands.
29. Fights will be held Friday-Sunday with a maximum of 9 fights per battle card.
30. Please make sure you understand these Rules and the RPU before playing this game. Once again, if you do not fully understand the rules or are a little confused, please e-mail me at Hawkeyeshsd@yahoo.com. I will help you out ASAP because you are a valued member of the SHSD community.
31. HAVE FUN!!!!
